Approximately 7000 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at USD. All students enjoy an array of services, from special clubs to campus intramural sports activities.
The University Center is home to many of our student organizations including the Office of International Services, the International Programs Office, the student newspaper, The Vista, and Campus Ministry, as well as the student cafeterias, supermart, and deli. The Center includes student lounges, computer rooms, outdoor recreation rentals, and an events ticket booth.
The Helen K. and James S. Copley Library, houses over 350,000 books and bound periodicals and includes subscriptions to 2,500 journals and magazines as well as collections of reference works, government documents, pamphlets, newspapers in many languages, and rare books. It also houses the University’s media software collection, including video and audio tapes, DVDs and CDs, slide sets, films and multi-media sets. A library computer system, SALLY, offers access to all of the library’s book, journal, and media collections, as well as the collections of the Legal Research Center. The libraries at USD are members of The San Diego Library Circuit Consortium, which maintains a database linking university libraries in the region.
The Writing Center is administered by the Department of English and staffed by trained, faculty-recommended tutors. Students and tutors work one-on-one in relaxed but structured one-hour sessions. A wide variety of writing references are available.
ELA makes every opportunity to connect its students with native speakers at USD in weekly “conversations.” In some cases, you may be paired with English speakers who are studying the language of your country. This informal speaking situation will help you practice outside of the classroom, as well as help you learn idiomatic English.
In collaboration with the USD School of Leadership and Education Sciences M.Ed. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), graduate student interns will be available to lead informal small group instruction and conversation classes.

In October of 2000, the Jenny Craig Pavilion opened. It provides a first-rate venue for USD athletes, including a basketball court that seats 5,100 and a 38,000-square-foot fitness center, meeting rooms, sports medicine clinic, and reception areas.
